Delivering the Authentic Surf Shop Experience
During the heyday of surfboard shops from the 1950’s and 1960’s was the on premises ethos to provide everything that you need to go surfing. In the times since most shops have specialized, catering to items as odd as display surfboards that serve no purpose in the ocean.
Billy’s guiding vision to develop Coconut Peet’s has been to focus on these core surfboard principal offerings:

365 Surfing Challenge
Interview with Billy Burns
What kind of surfboard have you been riding lately?
Recently I took on the challenge of surfing every day for a year and riding a different surfboard each day. With the Coconut Peet’s shop full of just about every kind of wave riding vehicle, his challenge was not find the surfboards. I surfed for 345 days on a different surfboard each time.
With all of San Diego County Surfing at your disposal where do you like to ride?
I’m pretty migratory across the whole county when it comes to surfing, you could say I’m a nomad cause I get around to exceptional beaches from up in the North County all the way down to the Sloughs in Imperial Beach.
What type of wave gets you the most excited to surf?
Bigger waves get me the most excited. I’ve ridden some monster waves way off shore at the Sloughs. The strong personal energy that gets excited in me when the waves are overhead are something I never want to give up.
What’s you recent most ridden surfboard?
With this question in the air Billy grabbed a photo of him ripping an overhead wave in nearby Mission Beach. “The Firewire surfboard underfoot showed up at the shop and in less than 90 minutes I had the board repaired and back out in the water surfing.
What sort of surfboard fin configuration do you prefer?
Typically I’m most happy on a quad fin setup, but I also do enjoy surfing singlefins.
